My Mission

Professional Identity Statement and Marketable Skills

Hello, my name is Sarah Hampton. I am a senior at Kennesaw State University majoring in English and Professional Writing. Born and raised in a small town in North Georgia, I’ve always had a deep love for literature and writing. From a young age, I was an avid reader and consistently performed at an advanced reading level, often finishing a book a week.

In high school, I was part of the founding team of the National English Honor Society, serving as Historian. I was also active in several volunteer-focused clubs, including Alpha Gamma, National Honor Society, Environmental Action Club, Cherokee Tribe (a student representative group), and Latin Club. These early experiences shaped my identity as a committed, collaborative, and socially engaged individual.

During my freshman year of college, I joined Thrive (no longer a program, now known as the Student Success Program), a selective initiative supporting HOPE Scholarship recipients. Through Thrive, I had the opportunity to study abroad in Costa Rica, where I participated in cross-cultural studies and developed skills in collaboration and communication. I also had the opportunity to conduct undergraduate research as part of a multidisciplinary team. Our project, Reimagining College Support: A Critical Exploration of the Impact of Grief and Loss on the Experiences of First-Year College Students,” was presented at the National Conference on Undergraduate Research in 2023.

In my sophomore year, I participated in the Disney College Program, which proved to be a season of significant personal and professional growth. Working in a fast-paced, customer-facing environment taught me how to adapt, manage pressure, and deliver exceptional service within a large organization.

During my time at Kennesaw State University, I grew to appreciate reading and writing in many different genres. I have had the opportunity to explore research on the effects that Dystopian Literature has on Generation Z. I have also had the opportunity to write works in the forms of poetry, short stories, travel writing, and non-fiction papers.

Following my experience in the Disney College Program, I shifted my major from English Education to English. I wasn’t sure where this change would lead me until I became involved with my local church’s college ministry, The Living Room. After returning from Disney, I began serving more actively and was unexpectedly offered a ministry internship, despite not applying or knowing applications had closed. As a Christian, I view this as a clear calling from God and a turning point in my journey.

For the past two years, I’ve worked in ministry, developing skills in communication strategy, event planning, graphic design, social media, creative displays, and leadership. These experiences affirmed my desire to pursue a career in vocational ministry. My next step is to pursue obtaining master’s degree in biblical and theological studies through a residency seminary program, with the goal of stepping into a part-time or full-time vocational ministry role.
